Excel is not a system, not even in 2026

February 2026. The country talks results; the workshop, clinic, and farm still run on the Google Sheet “everyone already knows.” Excel (or Sheets) is an excellent tool. As a system for inventory, appointments, and collections, it is a slow-motion accident. A bad filter, a duplicate, VAT that does not match 4.4 XML.

Custom web apps are not a stack whim. They are rules: who may edit, what happens if it charges, what log remains. Integration belongs when the workbook has to talk to Hacienda, the gateway, or WhatsApp. Until then, every close is archaeology.

Signs you already crossed the line

• There is a “good file” and three copies “just in case.”
• Payment is confirmed in a chat and written down later, if someone remembers.
• Nobody can say stock without calling someone who is on the road.
