Black Friday is not won in the ad: it is won on the server and at checkout
Nine days to Friday the 28th. In Mexico, Buen Fin already left scars: slow sites, gateway timeouts, duplicate orders. In Costa Rica the same pattern repeats every year with less volume and the same arrogance (“we don’t get that much traffic”). The traffic that does arrive is enough to knock over poorly tuned shared hosting.
Managed hosting is not a brochure extra. It is the floor: TLS, backups, CDN, and someone who answers if the disk fills on a Saturday. A high-conversion site does not convert if Pay waits 12 seconds. Core Web Vitals are not a Google trophy; they are the customer on a phone in the mall.
This week’s checklist
- A crude load test: 50 sessions on checkout, not on the home page.
- Alerts from the gateway and a plan if the acquirer over-rejects (misconfigured 3-D Secure).
- Turn ads off if real stock is 12 units. Paid traffic into vapor is reputation damage.
- Support WhatsApp with utility templates, not a marketing blast at 6 p.m. Friday — Respond.io.
The ad sells the visit. The server and the gateway sell the order.
If the site already shakes under today’s traffic, ask for help this week. The 28th is not CDN onboarding day.
